HIGH SCHOOL TRACK & FIELD: WELLSBORO BOYS AND GIRLS EACH PLACE 4TH AT MOLLY DRY INVITE (2024-04-11)

MANSFIELD — The Wellsboro Track & Field teams collected a handful of event titles and both the boys and girls squads finished in 4th place at Mansfield University’s Molly Dry Memorial Invitational on Thursday. 

Corning won both the boys and girls team titles with the girls racking up 211 points. Wellsboro scored 91 points, behind Corning, Hughesville (162) and Athens (111). 

Junior Annie Gehman won the long jump (15-0), was 2nd in the triple jump (33-9.75) and 3rd in the high jump (4-6) while junior Christina Logsdon won the javelin (100-3) and was 6th in the discus (80-5) and freshman Piper Hoprich won the 100 meter dash (13.06). 

Freshman Lauren Kosek placed 3rd in both the 1600 meter run (5:36.82) and the 3200 (11:58.63) and was 5th in the 2,000 meter steeplechase (8:59.56) while senior Sarah Seeling was 3rd in the javelin (89-6), 6th in the 300 hurdles (53.87) and 9th in the steeplechase (12:10.70). 

Senior Grace Harlan placed 5th in the shot put (86-10) and senior Hannah Gilmour was 5th in the discus (86-10) and 7th in the shot (27-5.75). Sophomore Megan Mosher was 8th in the pole vault (6-0) and seniors Maddie Mascho and Emily Morris were 8th (12:10.54) and 10th (12:10.70) in the 2000 steeplechase.

The boys scored 79 points, behind champ Corning (201), Bradford (121) and Hughesville (107.5).

Sophomore Jonathan Carl won the 400 (53.01) for the Hornets and senior Noah Morey won the javelin (154-1) with classmate Watson Feil taking 2nd (149-4). Morey also placed 2nd in the discus (129-10) and 3rd in the shot put (39-3). 

Junior Micah Vickery placed 5th in the 110 meter hurdles (17.12) and 6th in the high jump (5-6), sophomore Jude Cuneo was 6th in the 2,000 meter steeplechase (7:14.75), sophomore Max Macias was 7th in both the 1600 (5:00.11) and the steeplechase (7:19.88) and sophomore David Seeling was 7th in the 110 hurdles (19.08) and 8th in the high jump (5-4).
