Northern Tier WEST Sports Report
CANTON, PA — The host Warriors used a five-run fourth inning to take a lead on NP-Mansfield and the Tigers were unable to catch up, falling 7-6 in NTL baseball action here Friday.

Mansfield allowed just three Canton base hits, but committed five errors as sophomore Andy Hermansen was tagged with the loss after starting for the Tigers and going four innings and allowing seven runs (3 earned) on three Canton hits and three walks with three strikeouts.

The Tigers scored first as Alex Davis reached base on a dropped third strike in the first inning and Andy Hermansen would score the junior with a ground out to take a 1-0 lead on the Warriors. Canton answered with two runs in the bottom first and a scoreless second inning left the Tigers down 2-1 going to the third.

Davis scored again in the third inning .. on a Canton error off the bat of Cooper Shaw .. and the Tigers took a 3-2 lead in the top of the fourth when Cody Hermansen walked and eventually scored on a Canton balk.

Canton's 5-run fourth inning gave them a 7-3 lead before Mansfield answered with a pair of runs in the fifth .. Davis (walk) and Andy Hermansen (single) scored on a Shaw groundout and a Cade Kurzejewski double .. to pull to within 7-5.

Shaw came in to pitch for Mansfield and shut the Warriors down, going the final two innings and allowing no hits or runs on four walks and three strikeouts, but Mansfield's final run in the seventh .. when Shaw scored on a Canton error off the bat of Karson Dominick .. would leave the Tigers just short as they took just their second loss on the season.
