Northern Tier WEST Sports ReportMONTGOMERY, PA — North Penn-Mansfield fell victim to a dominant pitching performance and lost 6-0 to Montgomery in non-league baseball action here Monday.
The Red Raiders’ got a gem from freshman Brian Persing, who held Mansfield to four base hits and struck out 13 Tigers in the game.
Riley Oakes, Andy Hermansen, Cooper Shaw and Kade Kurzejewski had NP-Mansfield’s hits.
Karson Dominick started for the Tigers and would be tagged with the loss after going four innings and allowing three runs (2 earned) on four base hits and three walks with six strikeouts. Hermansen went two-thirds of an inning and gave up two earned runs on two hits and three walks while striking out two and Shaw recorded the final out for Mansfield with a strikeout.
North Penn-Mansfield (6-3) is scheduled to host Sayre (2-2) on Tuesday.
