NTL SOFTBALL: LADY MOUNTIES ROUT WYALUSING FOR 7TH STRAIGHT WIN (2024-04-15)

WYALUSING — Mackenzi Tice threw a two-hit shutout and the North Penn-Liberty Lady Mounties beat the host Lady Rams 13-0 on Monday.

Tice struck out 13 Wyalusing batters with no walks, while the Mounties collected eight base hits and took advantage of eight Ram errors in the game.

After two scoreless innings, the Mounties used two walks, three Wyalusing errors and a Mckenna Lightner single to take a 5-0 lead in the third. Liberty added four runs in the fourth inning as Megan Spohn reached base on an error, Haley Litzelman doubled, Addie Smith singled, Lightner walked and Marissa Griess was hit by a pitch in the frame to give the Mounties a 9-0 lead. 

Back-to-back singles by Saige Lehman and Spohn to lead off the fifth inning were followed by a Litzelman walk, a Smith RBI and a Lightner single as Liberty closed out the Rams with another four-run inning. 

Lightner finished with three base hits and added three RBI and a pair of runs scored while Smith had a hit, two RBI and scored three runs and Spohn had a hit, an RBI and scored twice. 

Litzelman had a double and scored twice while Lehman had a hit and two runs scored, Griess had a hit and a run, Tice scored once and Payton Chapel had an RBI. 

The win improves the Mounties’ record to 7-0 on the season. They’re scheduled to host Sayre on Tuesday.
