Down 2-0 after Sayre scored a run in each of the third and fourth innings, Mansfield tied the game in the sixth with four straight one-out singles (Cooper Shaw, Cade Kurzejewski, Karson Dominick and Cody Hermansen) that scored Shaw and Kurzejewski. 

After a scoreless seventh inning .. and winning pitcher Andy Hermansen shut the Redskins down in the top of the eighth .. Mansfield got a leadoff single from Shaw and a sacrifice from Kurzejewski to move Shaw to second base. Dominick singled to get Shaw to third and Cody Hermansen delivered the game-winner into right field, scoring Shaw and sealing the 3-2 win. 

Andy Hermansen faced three batters in his lone inning of work, getting Sayre to fly out and ground out and striking out one Redskin to set up older brother Cody’s eighth-inning heroics. 

Shaw started on the mound for Mansfield and gave up both Sayre earned runs on five hits and two walks with six strikeouts. Alex Davis took over in the fifth inning and went three frames, allowing no runs on three base hits and two walks while striking out three before giving way to Andy Hermansen in the eighth.

Cody Hermansen finished with two base hits and two RBI in the game while Dominick and Shaw each had two hits as well, with Dominick adding an RBI and Shaw scoring two runs. Kurzejewski had a base hit and scored a run and Cameron Caldwell had the Tigers’ remaining base hit in the game. 

NP-Mansfield improves to 7-3 on the season with the win. They’re scheduled to return to action on Friday when they host Wyalusing.
