NTL SOFTBALL: SHERMAN LEADS CV TO LOPSIDED WIN OVER WELLSBORO (2024-04-16)

WELLSBORO — Senior hurler Ruby Sherman threw a two-hit shutout with 11 strikeouts and the Cowanesque Valley Lady Indians pounded out 13 hits to cruise to a 14-0, five inning win over the host Hornets Tuesday. 

Sherman helped her pitching cause at the plate and collected two base hits, with a double, two RBI and three runs scored. Ashley Woodring added a pair of base hits with a double, two RBI and two runs scored and Logan Hamilton had three base hits in the game, knocked in two runs and scored once. 

Maddie Millard had two base hits and added an RBI and two runs scored, while Ella Churchill had a double and scored a run, Keyana Thomas had a hit and an RBI and Tabitha Piper had a hit and scored once. Katie Adams had an RBI and scored a run after drawing a pair of walks and McKenna Cary and Keana Mann each scored a run for CV.

CV scored three runs in each of the first two innings, five in the third and their last three in the top of the fifth. 

Paige Logsdon took the loss for Wellsboro, going three and two-thirds innings and giving up 11 runs (7 earned) on 11 base hits and five walks with a pair of strikeouts. 

Tegan Del Rio and Bailee Confer had Wellsboro’s two base hits in the game, and Sherman didn’t issue a walk to the Lady Hornets. 

With the win, CV improves to 8-1 on the season. They’re scheduled to visit Northeast Bradford on Friday.
