Senior Caden Smith got the win for Wellsboro, scattering four CV hits across six innings with a walk and allowing both Indian runs. At the plate, Smith drove in two runs .. on a single and a sacrifice. 

Four Hornets had multi-hit games .. Ryder Bowen (1B, 2B, RBI, R), Marek Mascho (2H, 2R), Lucas Cuneo (2H, 3R) and Max Mascho (2H, 2R) .. while Wellsboro got production throughout the line-up .. Dustin Owlett (1B, R, RBI), Gabe Sprouse (1B, RBI), Drayden McGee (1B, RBI), Cameron Owlett (RBI), Alec Magli (R, 2HBP), Syler Pietrzyk (R).

CV scored the first run of the game when Nick West lead off with a double and Larsen Swimley drove West in for an early, 1-0 lead. But Wellsboro answered with a run in the bottom half of the first, as Marek Mascho walked and Bowen would drive him in to tie the game at one. 

The Hornets scored another run in the second inning as Cuneo singled and McGee would drive him in to give Wellsboro a 2-1 lead that would hold until the fourth inning. 

CV’s Loagan Stickler led off the fourth with a walk and found his way to third when Coen Kemp drove him home on a deep sacrifice fly to left to tie the game at two. Wellsboro answered right back with a run in the bottom of the fourth. Marek Mascho reached on his second single of the game and Sprouse drove him in to retake the lead, 3-2. 

Smith shut the Indians down over the final two innings and Wellsboro exploded for a six-run fifth inning to put the game out of reach and then ended it with the mercy rule with three sixth-inning runs. 

For CV, West (2B, R), Swimley (1B, RBI), Jordan Vargeson (1B) and Lucas Hamilton (1B) had the Indians’ four hits in the loss. 

Wellsboro improves to 2-1 on the season with the win. They’re scheduled to visit Troy on Thursday. Cowanesque Valley, now 3-5 on the season, is scheduled to host Williamson on Friday.
