NTL SOFTBALL: HORNETS DROP SECOND STRAIGHT TO TOWANDA (2024-04-30)
Northern Tier WEST Sports ReportWELLSBORO — Wellsboro dropped their second straight game to Towanda in as many days here Tuesday, falling 13-1 in five innings to the Lady Knights.
Towanda scored four runs in the first inning to take the early lead. They added two runs in both the 2nd and 3rd innings, one in the 4th and then four more in the 5th.
Wellsboro's lone run came in the 5th inning as freshman Bailee Confer led off with a base hit then later scored after advancing to scoring position off two wild pitches. Confer's hit was the only hit in the game for the Lady Hornets.
Junior Paige Logsdon started on the mound and threw the first 5 & 1/3 innings. She allowed 13 runs on 13 hits with six walks and two strikeouts. Confer came in for the final 1/3 of an inning. She walked two and struck out one.
The loss drops Wellsboro to 3-10 (1-10 NTL Large School Division). The team is scheduled to be back in action on Friday at Wyalusing.
