ITHACA, NY — Former Williamson standout Charly Slusser recently completed her first indoor season with the Ithaca Women’s Track & Field team, helping the Bombers to their fourth straight league title and a 3rd-place finish at the Division 3 NCAA Championships.

Slusser won a silver medal in the high jump at States last season for Williamson, and excelled at several other events, including the long jump and the 100 and 200-meter dashes. The freshman has put her athleticism to the test during her short time at Ithaca, entering the pentathlon at several meets.

In her collegiate debut on December 4th, Slusser competed at the Cornell Relays in the 60 meter (8.55, 34th), the 4x400 relay (4:34.6, 6th), the high jump (5-1, 9th) and the long jump (14-1, 25th).

Slusser competed in the high jump at a pair of meets in January, finishing in first place at a quad meet with Brockport, Moravian and Oneonta with a jump of 5-3.25, then third in the Moravian Multi-Divisional meet with a jump of 5-2.25.

At the Bomber Invitational in early February, Slusser competed in the pentathlon and finished 10th overall. The five events are the high jump (4-9.75, 4th), the long jump (15-5.5, 6th), the 60 meter hurdles (10.64, 8th), the 800 (3:08.12, 10th) and the shot put (19-6.75, 10th).

Slusser again competed in the pentathlon at the Liberty League Championships and helped lead the Bomber women to their 4th-straight title with a 5th-place finish, finishing 3rd in the high jump (5-1.75), 4th in the long jump (15-3.25), 5th in the 60m hurdles (10.53), 6th in the shot put (21-8.25) and 7th in the 800 (3:07.65).

At the Cornell Invitational in mid-February, Slusser earned a personal best in the high jump, clearing 5-6. At the time, the leap was the 9th-best jump in Division 3, nationally.

The Bombers finished in 3rd place at the National Championships last weekend in Winston-Salem, NC. Slusser qualified in the high jump, but unfortunately was not able to record a clearance at the meet.

With the indoor season completed, Slusser and the Bombers will begin their outdoor season on March 25th at the Susquehanna University Jim Taylor Outdoor Invitational.
