TRAVEL SOFTBALL: LADY INDIANS AND LADY MOUNTIES LEAD LADY REBELS TO RUNNER-UP FINISH (2022-06-12)

ST. MARYS, PA — The NY Lady Rebels 16U, with nine of their ten team members playing for the Cowanesque Valley and North Penn-Liberty varsity softball teams, made it to the championship game of the Elk County Clash and finished second in the highly competitive tourney. 

The Rebels went 4-2 on the weekend, topping OutKast 18-2 and 7-0, Keystone Coyotes 12-0 and PA Xtreme 14-6, while falling to the Xtreme 10-3 and losing in the finals to Central PA Sharks, 3-2.

North Penn-Liberty Lady Mounties who are on the team and their stats from the weekend include: Mackenzi Tice (12 hits, 9 runs, 7 RBI, 2 doubles), Addie Smith (7 hits, 6 runs, 6 RBI, a double, a triple and a home run), Saige Lehman (8 hits, 11 runs, 3 RBI, 3 doubles), Megan Spohn (4 hits, 5 runs, 4 RBI, a double), Payton Chapel (2 hits, 6 runs, 2 RBI) and Mckenna Lightner (3 hits, 3 runs, 3 doubles).

CV Lady Indians who play include: Logan Hamilton (6 hits, 5 runs, 9 RBI, 2 HR), Ruby Sherman (2 hits, three runs) and Ashley Woodring (4 hits, 3 runs, 6 RBI, a double and a triple).

Tice threw 15 2/3 innings total, allowing 8 earned runs with 4 walks and 12 strikeouts. Smith threw 10 innings and gave up 2 earned runs with two walks and 11 K’s. Sherman went 4 2/3 innings, allowing 3 earned runs with 4 walks and 4 strikeouts, and Chapel threw 2 innings, giving up no earned runs with a walk and two strikeouts.
