LITTLE LEAGUE BASEBALL: ALLEGHENY MOUNTAIN/ELKLAND MAJORS FINISH POOL PLAY 2-0 WITH WIN OVER WELLSBORO (2022-06-22) Northern Tier West Sports Report ELKLAND — The Allegheny Mountain / Elkland majors baseball team finished up District 15 All-Star pool play here Wednesday, topping Wellsboro (1-1) 4-3 to move to 2-0 as both teams prepare to enter bracket play.
AM/E scored a run in the first inning, added two in the second and took a 3-0 lead into the third, where Wellsboro would get a run back before tying the game in the fourth.
After multiple rain delays, the host AM/E squad would add the eventual winning run in the fifth inning.
In other majors action, Tunkannock (2-0) topped RTL (1-1) in the East, while the Southern Tioga (0-1) / Towanda (1-0) and the Athens (1-0) / Sayre (0-1) games were postponed until Thursday.
Allegheny Mountain/Elkland will begin bracket play on Tuesday, when they'll play the No. 3 team out of the Mid West pool. If Southern Tioga loses to Towanda today, they will visit Elkland Tuesday.
