NTL BASEBALL: WELLSBORO'S CAM BROUGHT RECOGNIZED AS NEWCOMER OF THE YEAR BY COACHES (2021-06-15)

WELLSBORO — The NTL baseball coaches recently announced their selections for individual season awards, as well as for a first and a second-team All-Star squad, with Wellsboro’s Cam Brought being named Newcomer of the Year and joining teammate Darryn Callahan on the first team.

Brought, a sophomore first baseman, led the NTL with 33 hits and batted .478 with a .550 on-base percentage. He had nine doubles and two triples, while collecting 25 RBI and scoring 24 runs. 

Callahan’s six home runs were second only to the coaches’ Player of the Year, Sayre’s Brayden Horton. The junior third baseman batted .389 on the season and was walked 24 times, helping him to a .568 on-base percentage. He scored 32 runs and had 25 RBI on 21 hits, including three doubles and three triples.

Large-school champions Wellsboro had a trio of players named to the second team .. Conner Adams, Isaac Keane and Kaeden Mann.

Adams batted .333 out of the leadoff spot for the Hornets, with a .447 on-base percentage. The sophomore shortstop had 23 hits on the season, with 26 runs scored and seven RBI.

Keane had 23 hits, including five doubles and a home run, while batting .324 with a .388 on-base percentage. He scored 20 runs and had 18 RBI. The senior also went 4-1 on the mound for the Hornets, throwing 22 innings on the season with a 3.76 ERA and 12 strikeouts.

Mann had 19 hits for Wellsboro on the season, with two home runs and three doubles, while batting .306. The senior catcher also scored 23 runs and had 17 RBI.
