TRAVEL SOFTBALL: NY LADY REBELS 14U PLACE SECOND AT WELLSVILLE 16U TOURNEY (2021-07-11)

WELLSVILLE, NY — The NY Lady Rebels 14U travel softball squad had a successful weekend at the Wellsville Diamond Dawgs 16U tournament, going 4-0 before rain cancelled their championship game and they settled for a second-place finish.

The Rebels, who’s roster consists of a majority of Tioga County, Pa girls, opened the tournament with a 12-1 win over the Lady Lions, followed by a 25-1 win over the Lancaster Heat and a 12-2 win over the OP Starz. The Rebels then topped the Lady Lions again, this time by an 11-4 score.

Ashley Woodring and Saige Lehman each collected eight hits in the tourney, as Woodring had a triple and a double and added eight runs scored and six RBI. Lehman had three doubles to go along with her seven RBI and seven runs scored.

Addie Smith, Madi Palmer and Ruby Sherman each had seven hits, and Smith had a double, five RBI and scored eight runs. Sherman had a triple, a double, seven RBI and scored six runs, while Palmer had three doubles, three RBI and three runs scored.

Smith threw eight innings over three games, allowing seven hits, four earned runs while striking out 11. Sherman threw one hitless, scoreless inning.

Megan Spohn had six hits, nine RBI and six runs scored, while Mackenzie Tice and Logan Hamilton each had five hits. Hamilton had a triple, six runs scored and three RBI, and Tice added a double, five runs and an RBI.

Tice threw six innings in the tournament, allowing two earned runs on three hits with eight strikeouts.

Amber James had four hits on the weekend, with a triple, three RBI and seven runs scored, while Payton Chapel rounded out the potent Lady Rebel offensive attack with a pair of hits, including a triple, five RBI and four runs scored. She also pitched two innings and allowed no runs on no hits and struck out two.
