TRAVEL SOFTBALL: NY LADY REBELS 14U CONCLUDE SUMMER SCHEDULE AT EASTERN NATIONALS (2021-08-03)

OCEAN CITY, MD — The NY Lady Rebels 14U softball team concluded a busy, successful summer schedule this past weekend, going 4-2 at the USA Softball Eastern Nationals in Ocean City, Maryland.

The Rebels went 3-1 on the first day, topping NWO Heat 9-0, the Delaware Tribe 2-1 and the ShenVal Swarm 11-1, while falling to the eventual Eastern National 14U Champion Finesse out of Detroit, 7-4.

Picking up a win to start the second day .. 7-3 over the Pittsburgh Fury .. the Rebels were then edged 2-1 by Ohio Lightning.

Over the six games, Ruby Sherman had the big bat for the Rebels, collecting nine hits with two doubles, five runs scored and an RBI.

Saige Lehman, Ashley Woodring, Mackenzie Tice and Logan Hamilton each had six hits, including two doubles each for Lehman and Hamilton, while Woodring had a home run and a triple.

Tice, Lehman and Hamilton each had two RBI, while Woodring had three RBI and scored seven runs. Lehman scored six runs, and Tice scored twice while Hamilton scored once.

Megan Spohn had four hits, with two doubles, five RBI and four runs, while Madi Palmer added four hits, including a home run, with three RBI and three runs scored. Addie Smith had three hits, with two doubles, four RBI and three runs scored. 

Payton Chapel added a hit, two RBI and scored twice, while Amber James scored once.

Tice threw 13 and two-thirds innings, allowing five earned runs with 11 strikeouts.

Sherman threw seven innings, giving up one run with eight strikeouts, while Chapel threw five innings and allowed four with eight strikeouts.

Smith threw three innings and allowed two runs with three K’s.
