NTL SOFTBALL: LATE HOME RUN LIFTS TOWANDA OVER WILLIAMSON (2025-05-08)
Northern Tier WEST Sports ReportELKLAND — Williamson played even with Towanda through five innings but the Lady Knights used a two-run home run in the sixth to pull out the NTL crossover win over the Lady Warriors, 4-2.
Towanda scored a pair of runs in the first inning before Williamson cut the lead to 2-1 in the bottom half when Kaegan Short singled and would be driven in on a Savanna Dean base hit.
The score held until the bottom of the fourth inning when Alexis Sprague walked, was moved to third on a Lexi Smalley single and scored on a wild pitch to tie the game up at 2-all.
After a scoreless fifth inning, Towanda got a leadoff double followed by a two run home run that proved to be the winning runs.
Kenna Thomas went the distance in the loss, allowing four earned runs on seven base hits and three walks with seven strikeouts.
Williamson out-hit the Knights nine to seven, as Thomas (2b), Smalley and Short (1 run) each had a pair of hits and Dean (1 rbi), Aubree Roe and Sprague (1 run) had a hit each.
The Lady Warriors (8-7) are scheduled to return to action Monday with a trip to Wellsboro.
