NTL GOLF: HORNETS HOLD ON TO NTL LEAD WITH 5-1 FINISH AT RIVER VALLEY (2021-09-14)
Northern Tier West Sports ReportWESTFIELD — Wellsboro finished in second place at River Valley Tuesday .. 10 strokes behind winner Sayre .. allowing the Hornets to maintain their lead in the NTL with a 19-4 record.
Hannalee Cleveland was Wellsboro’s top finisher, shooting a 45 on her front nine and a 44 on the back for an 89 in the round. The sophomore collected five pars on the day and finished with the fifth best score on the day.
Andrew Merriman had one par in his round of 94 in the match, good for ninth overall, while Blake Hamblin was close behind, using a birdie and four pars to shoot a 95 for the Hornets.
Hayden Zuchowski had a 97, with two birdies and a par, while Silas Jackson shot a 113 and Connor Pierce had a 126.
Wellsboro (19-4) holds a slim lead after the round over both Athens (16-7) and Wyalusing (16-7), with Sayre (15-3) gaining ground now that their roster is back to full strength.
Next week’s match will be held on Monday at the Towanda Country Club, hosted by the Black Knights.
