NTL VOLLEYBALL: WELLSBORO VICTIM OF BLACK KNIGHT COMEBACK (2021-09-21)
Northern Tier West Sports ReportWELLSBORO — Wellsboro jumped out to a two-set lead against Towanda Tuesday, but a blowout 25-7 win in the third set propelled the Black Knights to a 3-2, comeback win over the Hornets in NTL volleyball action.
Wellsboro won the first set 25-16 and the second set 25-23 before falling 25-7 in the third. Towanda then won the fourth set 25-18 and edged the Hornets 15-13 in the deciding set.
Meredith Brownlee lead the Hornets with 17 service points, including two aces, while Emily Starkweather added 12 and two aces as well. Starkweather filled out her stat line with 11 digs and eight kills.
Paige Logsdon had 11 kills and five blocks, while Maddie Bordas had 31 assists. Olivia Servatius had 29 assists and seven service points with one ace.
Emma Owlett added six kills and Natalie Cleveland had 10 digs.
Wellsboro will host Williamsport Thursday.
