Alyssa Yungwirth has been seeing increased time in the pitcher’s circle for the University of Charleston softball team, and has performed well.
The Golden Eagles are 10-4 on the season, and in their doubleheader sweep of Glenville State on Sunday, Yungwirth saw action in the first game. The redshirt sophomore pitched the sixth and seventh innings of the 9-4 win, striking out four of the nine batters she faced.
Yungwirth made her first appearance for Charleston on March 14, a 14-0 win over Ohio Valley, striking out the side in her one inning of work.
A 2017 PIAA First-Team All-State selection, Yungwirth previously played at St. Bonaventure.
UC returns to action Saturday when they play a doubleheader against Wheeling University. The Golden Eagles will also play a twin bill on Sunday, at West Liberty University.
