NTL GIRLS BASKETBALL: WELLSBORO DOOMED BY BIG TOWANDA THIRD QUARTER IN LOSS (2022-01-11)
By Lance LarcomNorthern Tier West Sports ReportWELLSBORO — Down just nine points at halftime, Wellsboro fell victim to a big Towanda third quarter and fell to the Lady Knights 60-35 in NTL Large School girls basketball action Tuesday.
The Lady Hornets fell behind 12-8 after the first quarter, then put nine points on the board in the second quarter with the help of six Paige Logsdon points.
Towanda exploded for 24 points in the third quarter, while Logsdon scored four and Emma Coolidge had five points for Wellsboro and the Hornets trailed 50-26 heading into the final quarter.
Chloe Brandenburg scored six points in the final frame to help limit Towanda’s advantage in the quarter to one, but the Hornets would fall 60-35.
Logsdon and Coolidge each finished with 10 points, while Chloe Brandenburg had six, Maddy Mascho had five points and Emma Brandenburg scored four.
The Hornets fall to 4-5 with the loss. They are scheduled to play at North Penn-Mansfield Thursday.
