NTL BOYS BASKETBALL: WELLSBORO CRUISES TO WIN OVER WILLIAMSON (2022-01-12)

WELLSBORO — The Hornets held Williamson scoreless in the first quarter and rolled to an 87-31 win in NTL Large School boys basketball action Wednesday.

Conner Adams and Peyton McClure combined to hit five first-quarter three pointers and Liam Manning added seven points to help Wellsboro jump out to a 28-0 lead after one quarter of play.

Manning added 10 more points in the second quarter and Cameron Brought added six points, while Hayes Campbell scored five and the Hornets took a 52-7 lead into the break.

Williamson’s Tristan Parker hit a pair of threes in the third quarter and Eric Berkan and Devin Odell each added a trey to give the Warriors a 14-point quarter, but Brought (6), Manning (5), Adams (4), Darryn Callahan (4) and McClure (2) extended Wellsboro’s lead to 73-21.

A 14-10 Wellsboro advantage in the last quarter accounted for the final.

Liam Manning finished with 22 for the Hornets and Brought added 16 points, while Adams and McClure each had 15 points. 

Callahan scored nine points, and Campbell and Drew Manning each scored five points.

Parker led Williamson with 10 points, as Kristian Mizdail and Odell each had six points, Berkan had four, Gabe Kaufman scored three and Everett Dominick had two points.

Wellsboro, now 8-3 on the season, are scheduled to return to play on Friday when they host Athens.

Williamson, 3-6, are scheduled to host Troy Friday.
