NTL BOYS BASKETBALL: WELLSBORO WINS SIXTH STRAIGHT, ELEVENTH OVERALL (2022-01-25)

WELLSBORO — The Hornets used balanced scoring and good defense to pick up their sixth win in a row, running away from Northeast Bradford and topping the Panthers 63-37 in NTL boys’ crossover action Tuesday.

Wellsboro put four players in double figures, led by Peyton McClure’s 15 points on five three pointers. 

All five Hornet starters .. McClure (6), Conner Adams (2), Liam Manning (2), Darryn Callahan (4) and Hayes Campbell (2) .. plus sixth-man Cameron Brought (2), scored in the opening quarter as Wellsboro jumped out to an early 18-7 lead. 

Manning pumped in seven second-quarter points to help Wellsboro extend their lead to 35-18 as they entered the break.

After an 11-11 third quarter, Adams (6) and Callahan (4) led the Hornets to a 17-8 fourth quarter and the win.

In addition to his 15 points, McClure handed out three assists, while Callahan finished with 12 points and grabbed six rebounds while adding three assists.

Adams and Liam Manning each scored 11 points, and Adams had nine assists while Manning had six rebounds, three assists and two steals.

Campbell scored eight points and had seven boards and two assists, while Brought had five points and five boards. Drew Manning rounded out the Hornets’ scoring with one point.

Wellsboro now stands at 11-2 on the season. They are scheduled to visit Wyalusing on Thursday.
