Southern Tier Sports ReportBINGHAMTON — The Blizzard 16u softball team out of Painted Post went 3-1-1 and used strong pitching, solid defense and timely hitting to capture its second tournament win of the summer.
The Blizzard beat the NY Titans 16u Gold team 8-5 at the BAGSAI Complex over the weekend.
Lacey Baker (Horseheads), Laynie LaBarron (Cowanesque Valley) and Daphne Sherman (Corning) had a combined 1.15 ERA for the weekend.
Baker, Emma Carlton (Avoca/Prattsburgh), Kristen Cole (Horseheads), Mackenzie Fusare (Elmira), Marissa Griess (North Penn-Liberty), Cortney Searfoss (Corning), Madison Sutryk (Bradford), Sherman and Kaylee Welty (Horseheads) all had multiple hits, runs or RBI during the tournament.
Paige Parsons (Corning) racked up a .500 on base percentage and Kristen Gargano (Corning) provided excellent defense in the field and behind the plate.
