Northern Tier West Sports Report
TIOGA COUNTY — With Summer winding down and Autumn just around the corner, now is a good time to take a look at our West football teams’ schedules for the 2022 season.

NORTH PENN-MANSFIELD PANTHERS
August 26 .. @ Towanda
September 1 .. vs. Canton
September 9 .. vs. Troy
September 16 .. vs. Northwest Area
September 23 .. @ Muncy
October 1 .. @ Cowanesque Valley
October 7 .. vs. Athens
October 14 .. @ Sayre

The Panthers and new Head Coach Chris Olson lose four games .. and three wins .. from last season’s schedule, as CMVT, Bald Eagle Area, Midd-West and Line Mountain have been replaced by Northwest Area, Muncy, Sayre and Cowanesque Valley.

After opening at Towanda in Week 1, NPM stays home at Island Park for the next three weeks. The Panthers, 5-6 a season ago, went 4-1 at home and 1-5 on the road.

Five of their last six games will be on the road, including their battle for the M.F. Jones Trophy in Wellsboro.

The Hornets will open on the road at Montoursville for the second straight year, then will bounce between home and away games with Muncy, at Canton, with Athens, at Towanda and then home two weeks in a row, with Troy and Wyalusing. 

Last year’s game with Towanda was cancelled, and Wellsboro picked up Port Allegany at the last minute as a replacement game. The Hornets add Muncy and Bald Eagle Area to this season’s slate.

The Indians lose three wins off their 2021 schedule in Towanda, Wyalusing and Otto Eldred .. who went a combined 6-23 last year .. and replace them with Athens, North Penn-Mansfield and Milton, who went a combined 18-16. 

CV will look to fill an open date during rivalry week to complete their schedule.
