Northern Tier West Sports ReportBOONE, NC — CV’s Kade Sottolano wrestled at his second tournament as a freshman 285-pounder for D1 Edinboro recently, going 2-2 at the Appalachian State Invitational.
Sottolano fell to the University of Virginia’s Ethan Weatherspoon 4-1 to start the tourney, then would wrestle back and meet up with Weatherspoon again, this time falling to the eventual fourth-place finisher 15-2.
In his first consolation match, Sottolano beat Gardner Webb’s Abraham Preston 4-3 after jumping out to an early 4-0 lead on a takedown and near fall in the first period.
Sottolano next topped Ohio University’s Drew Harris 9-3, setting up his second match with Weatherford.
The Fighting Scots will travel to Las Vegas for the Cliff Keen Invite on December 2nd and 3rd.
