Northern Tier West Sports ReportSHIPPENSBURG, PA — Wellsboro grad and Slippery Rock freshman Darryn Callahan recorded his first collegiate base hit and RBI in The Rock’s 6-4 win over Shippensburg University on Sunday.
After falling in Game 1, Slippery Rock avoided the doubleheader sweep by slugging its way to a 6-4 victory with 11 hits including three home runs, one double and one triple.
Callahan reached base twice, with a walk and his first collegiate hit, an RBI single in the third inning that put Slippery Rock up 4-0.
Slippery Rock is 2-2 on the season and Callahan has played in one other game .. the second game of Saturday’s double-header with Ship .. where the right fielder went 0-3 in a 3-1 loss.
Callahan and The Rock will return to action Friday by hosting a four-game stand with Alliance University.
