MECHANICSBURG — Cowanesque Valley’s Claire Miller, a sophomore at Messiah, and Wellsboro grad / Juniata freshman Emma Coolidge both competed for their schools at this past weekends Messiah Invitational, won by Miller’s Falcons.
Miller ran in three events, placing 5th in the 100 meter hurdles (16.18), 14th in the 400 meter hurdles (75.27) and, along with teammates Halle Jennett, Emma Graybill and Arwyn Gruenwald, 5th in the 4x100 meter relay (50.65).
The Falcons won the team title with 108 points. Coolidge’s Eagles placed 17th with six points.
Coolidge, who is also a member of Juniata’s women’s basketball team, set a PR in both the javelin (32.88m) and in the discus (27.57m) at Messiah. She also competed in the shot put (9.65m) for the Eagles, placing 23rd, while her mark in the javelin placed her seventh out of 38 throwers and she finished 23rd in the discus.
Juniata will travel to Shippensburg University for the ‘Ship Mid-Week Meet’ on Wednesday, while Messiah returns to action Saturday at Gettysburg for the Mason Dixon Invitational.
