
WELLSBORO — The Wellsboro girls soccer team shut out Jersey Shore 2-0 in a non-league contest on Saturday, September 30.
After a scoreless first half the Lady Hornets scored on a pair of direct kicks from junior Cassidy Mitchell.
Mitchell scored first with 30:16 remaining, then added her second goal with 28:29 left, putting Wellsboro up 2-0. Wellsboro's defense held Jersey Shore to five shot attempts in the game and two corner kicks to preserve the win.
Wellsboro had 11 shots in the game and five corner kicks. Freshman Jadyn Dunlap made five saves in the win.
The Lady Hornets improve to 4-8 overall. They are back in action on Tuesday against Troy.
