NTL BOYS SOCCER: NP-LIBERTY MOUNTIES ROLL TO 6-1 WIN OVER TROY (2024-08-28)

LIBERTY — The Mounties outshot the visiting Troy Trojans 25-to-3 and opened up a 3-0 halftime lead on their way to a 6-1 NTL win here Wednesday.

Ayden Wheeland recorded a hat trick with an assist while Brady Stetter had two goals and three assists and Tate Strange had a goal and an assist in North Penn-Liberty’s win. 

Wheleand opened the scoring with a goal off a Stetter assist at the 28:31mark of the first half and the two seniors connected again eight minutes later to give Liberty a 2-0 lead. 

Stetter, who entered Wednesday’s game with 47 career goals, took a Wheeland corner kick and headed it in for the score before the break to put the Mounties up 3-0 at intermission. 

Troy’s Konnor Kerr scored three and a half minutes into the second frame before Strange scored less than three minutes later off a helper by Stetter to keep the Mountie lead at three .. 4-1.

Strange found Stetter with less than 13 minutes remaining in the contest and Stetter’s 49th career goal gave Liberty a 5-1 lead. Wheeland completed his hat trick and the scoring for the day with a goal off an assist by Kolton Alexander with 6:16 left on the clock.

NP-Liberty keeper Deakon Valentine had two saves in net for the Mounties.
