NTL GIRLS SOCCER: WELLSBORO BLANKS NORTH PENN-MANSFIELD FOR FIRST WIN (2024-08-29)

MANSFIELD — After a tight first half of play and a 1-0 Wellsboro lead, the Hornets rattled off three second half scores and shut out the Lady Tigers to win 4-0.

With the score knotted at zero with less than nine minutes left in the first frame, Wellsboro got an unassisted goal from Luna Moyer to take a 1-0 lead into the break. 

Wellsboro’s Cassidy Mitchell then went back-to-back with two goals just :43 seconds apart at the start of the second half and Annie Gehman completed the scoring a minute later off a Kate Bryant assist.

The Lady Hornets held a 20-to-3 advantage in shots on goal while North Penn-Mansfield had a 4-3 edge in corner kicks. 

Hornet keeper Jadyn Dunlap got the clean sheet, stopping all three Tiger shots while NP-Mansfield keeper Emaleigh D’Andrea had 13 saves and Avalon New had three stops in relief.

North Penn-Mansfield (0-2) is scheduled to next host Northeast Bradford while Wellsboro (1-1) visits Troy .. both on Wednesday.
