NTL GIRLS BASKETBALL: LIGHTNER DOUBLE-DOUBLE LIFTS NORTH PENN-MANSFIELD OVER CANTON (2025-01-06)

MANSFIELD — The Lady Tigers overcame a turnover-filled game with rebounding and second chance points as they held on to top the visiting Canton Lady Warriors 41-35 here Monday night.

Kam Lightner led the way with a double-double of 17 points and 15 rebounds for Mansfield while Raegan Watkins and Claire Dominick grabbed 7 boards each and Watkins scored 14 points and Dominick added 5 points, going 5-for-8 from the free throw line.

NPM took an 11-7 lead after one quarter of play as Lightner scored 5 early points and Watkins had 4, before the Warriors edged the Tigers 8-7 in the second frame to cut Mansfield’s lead to 18-15 at the break. 

Watkins and Lightner had 4 points each in the Tigers’ 11 point third quarter and they held Canton to single digits for the third straight frame, taking a 29-23 lead into the fourth. 

Lightner netted 6 in the final quarter and Watkins, Dominick and Elaina Shaw added 2 points each to help hold the Lady Warriors off with a 12-12 fourth.

Shaw finished with 3 points, 2 rebounds, 2 steals and 2 assists and Avalon Rew rounded out North Penn-Mansfield’s scoring with 2 points and grabbed 2 rebounds.

The Lady Tigers’ second win in a row gets them back to .500 on the season at 5-5. They’ll host Athens for their second of four straight home games on Wednesday.
