HIGH SCHOOL SWIMMING: WELLSBORO GIRLS & BOYS COMPETE AT ATHENS (2025-01-07)

ATHENS — The Wellsboro boys and girls swim teams took on Athens Tuesday and both fell to the host Wildcats.

The girls lost 94-30 and had a pair of double winners as junior Makenna Robbins won both the 200 Yard IM (2:38.72) and the 100 Yard Free (1:03.66) and freshman Piper Anderegg won the 200 Yard Free (2:10.49) and the 500 Yard Free (6:03.05).

Junior Kristina Belz was 4th (33.43) in the 50 Yard Free and freshman Molly Doan was 5th (40.80) while Belz and Doan also finished 4th (1:27.74) and 5th (1:56.16) in the 100 Yard Backstroke.

On the boys side, the Hornets lost 121-25. 

Freshman Matthew Robbins placed 2nd in both the 200 Yard Free (2:06.39) and the 500 Yard Free (5:52.42) while freshman Wyatt Sporer was 2nd in both the 50 Yard Free (27.32) and the 100 Yard Back (1:17.98). 

Sophomore Ethan Pollaro placed 3rd in the 200 Yard IM (2:51.74) and 4th in the 100 Yard Breaststroke (1:29.33) while freshman Elijah Schrawder placed 3rd in the 100 Yard Free (1:16.46) and 5th in the 100 Yard Breaststroke (1:55.25).
