WYALUSING — Wellsboro couldn’t overcome a slow start in their game with Wyalusing Wednesday and despite winning the middle quarters, would fall 51-40 to the host Lady Rams.
Wyalusing held Wellsboro to a single bucket by Ady Frantz in the first frame and took an 8-2 lead into the second quarter.
Wellsboro drew even with the Rams in the second quarter, leaving Wyalusing with a 23-17 lead at the break. The Lady Hornets edged Wyalusing 15-14 in the third quarter to cut the deficit by one point, but the hosts outpaced Wellsboro 14-8 in the final period to provide the final.
Frantz led Wellsboro with 13 points, while Paige Logsdon had 10 points, Chloe Brandenburg had nine, Teagan Novinger scored four points and Lily Wagner and Rylee Coolidge each had two points in the loss.
With their fourth straight loss, Wellsboro drops to 3-5 on the season. They’re scheduled to return to play next Wednesday at Troy.
