NTL GIRLS BASKETBALL: CHURCHILL & WOODRING COMBINE FOR 50 POINTS IN ROUT OF SAYRE (2025-01-08)

SAYRE — Cowanesque Valley scored the first 13 points to blow the game open early on its way to a 64-21 win over Sayre in NTL small school girls basketball action here Wednesday.

Ella Churchill and Ashley Woodring, who combined to score 50 points in the game, scored the first 13 points of the game and the Lady Indians led 15-7 at the end of the first quarter. 

The Indians then reeled off 19 straight points to take a 34-7 lead with 2 1/2 minutes remaining in the half.

CV led 41-12 at the half, thanks in large part to Churchill and Woodring, who scored 16 and 14 points, respectively, in the first half.

The duo scored all 14 of CV's points in the third quarter in a 14-6 run that extended the Indians' lead to 55-18 heading into the final eight minutes.

Churchill scored 28 points, including a trio of 3-pointers, and Woodring scored 22 points for the Indians.

CV (4-5) is scheduled to next visit Williamson, on Friday.
