TOWANDA — North Penn-Mansfield used a big second quarter advantage to build a double-digit lead on Towanda and hold the host Black Knights off for a 61-50 NTL large school win here Tuesday.
Up one at 17-16 after the first quarter behind 10 Alex Davis points, the Tigers got 7 second quarter points from Tate Strange and 4 each from Brady Stetter and Jason Harer and held Towanda to 5 points to take a 34-21 lead into the locker rooms.
Stetter scored 8 points in the third frame as Mansfield extended their lead to 49-34 before Towanda took the final quarter 16-12 to provide the final.
Davis led NPM with 17 points and had 6 steals in the win while Stetter finished with 15 points and Strange had 12. Harer scored 8 points, Andy Hermansen had 7 points and 6 assists and Cooper Shaw rounded out the scoring with 2 points and grabbed 8 rebounds.
The Tigers (11-2) are scheduled for a rematch with Troy on Thursday. The Trojans handed North Penn-Mansfield their first loss of the season before Christmas.
