NTL GIRLS BASKETBALL: COWANESQUE VALLEY HOLDS ON FOR WIN OVER NORTH PENN-LIBERTY (2025-01-17)

LIBERTY — North Penn-Liberty chipped away at an early 12-point Cowanesque Valley lead but was unable to catch up as the visiting Lady Indians won the small school contest 41-37 here Friday.

CV’s Ashley Woodring (9), Starr Ordway (7) and Ella Churchill (4) pushed the Indians out to a 20-8 first quarter lead before Liberty sisters Kaylee and Kendall Graham scored 4 points each in the second frame as the Lady Mounties cut the lead to 24-17 at the break.

Haley Litzelman would score 18 of the Mounties’ 20 second half points .. including all 12 in the fourth quarter .. as NPL closed the gap, but Woodring hit enough free throws down the stretch to hold the Mounties’ off. 

Woodring finished with 21 points to lead CV, including an 11-for-15 effort from the free throw line, while Ordway added 12 points, Churchill had 6 and Cassidy Andreason and Jesse Quick had 1 point each.

Litzelman finished with a game-high 22 points and added 7 rebounds, 6 assists, 5 steals and 4 blocked shots while Kaylee Graham had 9 points, 5 rebounds and 3 steals and Kendall Graham had 6 points and 4 rebounds in the loss. 

Cowanesque Valley evens their overall season record at 6-6 with the win and is scheduled to return to action on Monday at non-league Coudersport, while North Penn-Liberty falls to 5-7 with the loss and also returns to play Monday with a visit to Towanda.
