BENTON — The Mounties traveled to Benton to take on the 1-12, non-league Tigers Monday and came home with a dominant, 62-39 win.
Liberty took an early 20-5 lead as Luke Kreger scored 7 first quarter points and the Mounties extended their lead to 36-14 at halftime with a 16-9 second frame.
Evan McTish scored 5 third quarter points and Kreger added 4 as NPL took a 52-28 lead into the fourth quarter, where Sudan Benner scored all 10 NPL points to provide the final.
Benner led North Penn-Liberty with 14 points while Adynn Wheeland had 12 points and added 4 steals and 3 assists. Kreger finished with 11 points and Louis Mercantino and McTish each had 11, with McTish adding 13 rebounds. Blake Oakley had 6 points and Brody Grinnell rounded out the scoring with 1 point.
The Mounties improve to 8-6 on the season with the win. They’re scheduled to next play at Wellsboro, on Wednesday.
