LIBERTY — A short-handed North Penn-Liberty squad still proved to be too much for the 2-18 Lady Redskins from Sayre as the Mounties allowed just two second half points and rolled to a lopsided, 41-11 win in their regular season finale here Monday.
Liberty was without the services of leading scorer, rebounder and primary ball handler Haley Litzelman as the junior recovers from an ankle injury sustained in the Mounties’ last outing, so senior Kaylee Graham and sophomore sister Kendall Graham made up for the lost scoring with 31 combined points and senior Olivia Smith grabbed 22 rebounds to lift NPL to the win.
Kendall Graham scored 6 points in each of the first two quarters as Liberty took a 12-6 lead after one and a 22-9 advantage into the break. The Lady Mounties shut Sayre out in the third quarter and Kaylee Graham scored 8 fourth quarter points on her way to netting a game-high 17.
On a night where Liberty recognized their senior players, Kaylee Graham added 7 rebounds, 5 assists and 2 steals to her stat-line while classmate Smith added 4 points and 4 steals to her 22 boards and fellow senior Ciara Keiser had 6 rebounds.
Kendall Graham finished with 14 points, 3 rebounds and 2 steals while junior Tierney Edler added 4 points and sophomore Jaci Fairchild had 2 points, 2 rebounds and 5 steals in the win.
The Lady Mounties finish their regular season with a 9-13 record. They’re currently the No. 6 seed in the District 4 Class A standings.
No. 5 seed Saint John Neumann holds a slight edge in the power rankings with two games left, but they are against 1-20 Midd-West and 3-17 Montoursvile.
