NTL WRESTLING: BOWEN WINS NORTH SECTION TITLE, HORNETS ADVANCE FIVE TO DISTRICTS (2025-02-15)

WELLSBORO — Ryder Bowen won a North Section title Saturday and four other Hornets will join the 189 pound champ as qualifiers for the District 4 Championships next weekend in Williamsport.

Mason Nowak (133), Silas Mickey (160), Evan Ingerick (172) and Hayden Stevens (285) each placed fourth to advance to the post-season’s second round.

Bowen started his day in the semifinals and major decisioned Canton’s Leland Pepper 21-11. The senior won 10-3 over Towanda’s Zach Lantz to claim the 189 pound title.

Nowak started his run with a 14-0 win in the quarterfinals before falling to eventual 133 pound champ Gage Evans from Towanda in the semis. A pin the consi semis earned Nowak a spot in the 3rd-4th place match where he was pinned.

Mickey lost his first match of the day and fought back to the consolation final with a pair of falls. A 4-1, sudden victory loss to Towanda’s Jace Gunther gave Mickey the fourth place finish.

Ingerick won his first match, fell in the semis to eventual runner-up Chase Guerin from Towanda, got a fall in the consolation semis and lost in the 3rd-4th place match to Troy’s Rylan Breidt. 

Stevens won 4-1 in the quarterfinals at 285 before losing to eventual champ Mason Higley from Towanda in the semis. After a 1-0 win to reach the 3rd-4th place match, Stevens lost 4-2 to troy’s Reed Palmer.

Wyatt Kilburn went 2-2 to finish fifth at 152 pounds, while Reed Richardson went 0-2 for the Hornets at 145 pounds. 

Wellsboro finished in 9th place as a team with 81 points. Towanda won the team title (236.5), followed by Wyalusing (140), Williamson (132), North Penn-Liberty (114), Sullivan County (100.5), Troy (95), NEB (85.5) and Canton (82.5). Sayre was last in team standings with 26 points.
