Northern Tier WEST Sports ReportTIOGA COUNTY, PA — The Northern Tier West Sports Report / Laurel Health ‘Athletes of the Week’ are North Penn-Liberty junior Elyna Booth and North Penn-Mansfield junior Andy Hermansen.
Booth helped the Lady Mounties to a 3-0 start to the season as Liberty beat Wyalusing 9-2, Wellsboro 9-3 and Hughesville 18-0.
Against Wyalusing, Booth went the complete game and struck out 14 batters, scattered five hits and five walks while allowing one earned run.
Booth pitched the final three innings against Wyalusing and didn’t allow a run, giving up two hits and two walks with nine strikeouts.
Booth threw a 5-inning no-hitter against Hughesville, struck out nine and was a walk and an error away from a perfect outing. She added two base hits from the plate and had a pair of RBI.
Hermansen helped the Tigers to a 2-0 start, topping Wyalusing 15-4 and Wellsboro 12-2.
In the win over Wyalusing, Hermansen had a grand slam and a single, four RBI and scored two runs, and added two hits, four RBI and a run scored in the Wellsboro win.
