Northern Tier WEST Sports ReportALFRED, NY — Wellsboro’s Cameron Brought is following up a successful freshman season for the Alfred University baseball team as a team captain for his second-year Saxons.
Brought, the 2021 All-Tioga County Newcomer of the Year, 2022 Offensive Player of the Year and 2023 Offensive and overall Player of the Year for the Hornets, led Alfred in both his and the Saxons’ first season in hits (28), batting average (.283) and doubles (9) and was named to the All-Empire 8 third team, leading to his being named a 2025 team captain.
This year, Brought has started eight games for the 3-12 Saxons and has a .250 average with a double, five runs scored, a .300 OBP and four RBI.
The Saxons recently won their first league game since their start in 2024. After a mid-week double-header with the Pitt Bradford, Alfred will host SUNY Poly for a three-game stand on Saturday and Sunday.
