Northern Tier WEST Sports ReportWELLSBORO — The Lady Hornets pounded out 15 hits and took advantage of eight Sullivan County errors to beat the Lady Griffins 14-4 in non-league softball action here Thursday.
Freshman Ady Frantz led Wellsboro from the pitcher’s circle and at the plate, striking out 12 batters and allowing four runs on five hits and six walks and hitting a home run for the second game in a row, adding a single, three RBI and scoring three runs.
Five other Hornets had two base hits each .. Teagan Novinger (1 run), Mazie Johnson (1 run, 1 RBI), Kaylee Frazier (1 run), Arianah Lawton (2 runs) and Hannah Taylor (2 runs, RBI) .. while Delaney Morral had a triple, an RBI and scored two runs, Paige Logsdon had a double and Rylee Coolidge had a hit, an RBI and a run scored.
Wellsboro, now 2-5 on the season, is scheduled to visit Cowanesque Valley next Thursday.
