Northern Tier WEST Sports ReportSCHUYLKILL HAVEN, PA — North Penn-Mansfield grad Zack Wilcox was recently named the Penn State Schuylkill Male Athlete of the Week after his successful start to the Track & Field season.
Wilcox opened his freshman season running for Schuylkill at West Chester University’s Purple & Gold Invitational by placing 6th in the 800m run in 2:07.00.
At Susquehanna University’s Jim Taylor Duals, Wilcox placed 7th with a 1:59.08 in the 800m and joined with teammates to finish 15th in the 4x400m relay in 3:44.72.
Wilcox won the 800m at the Misericordia Twilight Invitational in 1:59.79, leading to his being named as Schuylkill’s Male Athlete of the Week. The freshman was also a part of the 4x400m relay squad, which placed 7th in 3:37.36.
Wilcox is currently ranked as the #3 800m runner in the USCAA (United States Collegiate Athletic Association).
