Northern Tier WEST Sports ReportMANSFIELD — A trio of Tioga County athletes have joined forces on the Mansfield University Track & Field team, as CV’s Seth Neal, Williamson’s Nathaniel Welch and North Penn-Liberty grad Noah Shedden all run for the Mounties.
At the season-opening Purple & Gold Invitational at West Chester, junior Shedden finished 11th in the 800m run (2:09.03) and 19th in the 1500m (4:25.36) while senior Neal was 11th (4:18.16) in the 1500m and sophomore Welch was 20th (4:25.46). Neal and Welch also were on MU’s 4x400m relay team that placed 5th (3:40.15).
Neal and Welch again ran the 4x400m at the (Lafayette) Leopard Invite on March 29th, placing 6th (3:37.85), and both also ran the 800m, with Neal finishing 10th (2:03.47) and Welch taking 12th (2:06.35).
At Slippery Rock’s Dave Labor Invite on April 5th, Shedden debuted in the 3000m Steeplechase and finished 9th (10:18.00) while Neal took 21st in the 400m (52.83) and was on MU’s 6th-place 4x400m relay team (3:31.10).
