
MANSFIELD —The North Penn-Liberty softball team moved to 7-0 on the season and extended their regular season, non-losing streak to 50 games as they cruised to an 11-1, five-inning win over Canton here Monday.
Junior Elyna Booth threw a complete game and allowed a lone earned run on three hits and three walks while striking out 12 Canton batters.
The Lady Mounties collected 13 base hits in the win.
Senior Addie Smith (2 runs, 2 RBI) had three hits, with a double, including a first inning single that scored sophomore Maddie Smith, who had led off the frame with a walk. Junior Haley Litzelman reached base on a Canton error that scored Maddie Smith and NPL took an early, 2-0 lead.
Maddie Smith (2 runs, 2 RBI, 2 SB) finished with two hits, including a second inning double that scored freshman Maddie McNamara, who had also doubled, to make it 3-0 Liberty after two innings of play.
In the third, Addie Smith and Litzelman each singled and would eventually score off sacrifice groundouts .. by sophomore Claire Dominick and Booth .. to give the Mounties a 5-0 lead.
After a scoreless fourth inning, Canton managed their only run of the game in the top of the fifth, followed by the Mounties collecting singles from Litzelman, Booth, senior Kaylee Graham and Maddie Smith and doubles from sophomore Elaina Shaw and Addie Smith to score six runs in the bottom half to end the game early.
Shaw (1 run, RBI) had two doubles in the win, while Litzelman (2 runs) and Graham (2 RBI) each had a pair of base hits.
McNamara (1 run) and Booth (RBI) each had a hit while junior Kameron Lightner had an RBI and scored a run and Dominick had an RBI.
Now 7-0 on the season, North Penn-Liberty is next scheduled to play at Wyalusing on Thursday. The Rams handed the Lady Mounties their last regular season, league loss .. back on April 27th, 2022.
