
COUDERSPORT — After a slow start in their non-league match-up with Coudersport here Wednesday, Cowanesque Valley put together a pair of multi-run innings and downed the host Falcons, 5-2.
Coudersport opened the game’s scoring in the bottom of the third inning with a run before CV answered in the top of the fourth.
Back-to-back singles by Lucas Hamilton and Loagan Stickler and an error off the bat of Danny Smith loaded the bases for CV. Gavin Churchill and William Kies each drew a walk and the Indians led 2-1.
In the sixth, Churchill drew a one-out walk, Kies was hit by a pitch and Bruce reached base on a Coudy error that scored Churchill. Dave Hess laid down a bunt to load the bases, Ayren Morgan was hit by a pitch to score Kies and Hamilton singled, scoring Bruce. Coudersport tacked on a run in their final at-bat, providing the 5-2 final score.
Hamilton (1 RBI, 1 R) and Hess each had two base hits, while Morgan (1 RBI), Stickler (1 R) and Smith had the Indians’ remaining hits. Kies and Churchill each had an RBI and scored a run.
Hamilton started on the mound and threw two and a third innings, allowing one earned run on two hits and five walks with one strike out.
Morgan earned the win, going two innings and giving up no runs on three hits with one strikeout, while Hess went an inning and two-thirds and allowing no runs or hits with two K’s and Stickler finished, going one inning and allowing one unearned run on a hit and two walks.
CV (10-1) is scheduled to return to action Thursday at Williamson.
