
TIOGA JUNCTION — Intra-school district rivals Cowanesque Valley and Williamson played for the second time Thursday and the result was similar to the first meeting when CV won the Northern Tioga battle 12-2, with the Indians again coming out on top, 13-1.
Danny Smith and Hunter Simonds combined on a five-inning one-hitter, with starter Smith earning the win after going three innings and allowing no runs on one hit and a pair of walks with four strikeouts. Simonds threw the final two innings, giving up a lone unearned run with two walks and one K.
CV scored three runs in each of the first two innings, plated six in the third and added their final run in the fifth, while Williamson scored their run in the bottom of the fourth.
Lucas Hamilton (2 RBI, R) and Brody Bruce (RBI, 3 R) each had two base hits for the Indians, while Ayren Morgan (RBI, R), Logan Huntington (RBI, R), William Kies (RBI, 2 R), Dave Hess (RBI, 2 R), Smith (1 R) and Loagan Stickler (2B, R) each had one hit and Levi Stahli had an RBI and a run scored.
Sawyer Carleton had Williamson’s hit, while Kohen Flynn started on the mound for the Warriors and took the loss, going three innings and allowing 12 runs (4 earned) on seven CV hits and three walks with two strikeouts. Maddox Hartman finished, pitching two innings and giving up one unearned run on three hits with four strikeouts.
CV runs their record to 13-1 on the season with the win while Williamson drops to 3-7 with the loss.
The Indians are scheduled to host Northern Potter for a double-header on Saturday, while Williamson is scheduled to visit Smethport on Monday.
