NTL BASEBALL: WILLIAMSON TOPPED BY CANTON (2025-05-05)

CANTON — The host Canton Warriors used a pair of big innings to break open a close game and the Williamson Warriors couldn’t keep up, falling 15-10 in a small school baseball match-up here Monday.

Williamson scored first, plating a run in their opening at-bat, but Canton answered with two runs in the bottom half. Williamson tied it up in the second and Canton went up 3-2 with a run in the bottom of the third frame. 

In the bottom of the fourth, Canton scored four runs to go up 7-2, but Williamson cut it to 7-5 with a three run fifth inning. Canton had another big inning in the bottom of the fifth, plating six runs to take a 13-5 lead, but Williamson made it a three-run game with five runs in the sixth .. 13-10. 

Canton added their final two runs in the bottom of the sixth and shut Williamson down in the seventh to secure the divisional win. 

Williamson had nine base hits in the game .. to Canton’s 11 .. as Owen Cilino (3 RBI, R) and Carter Tubbs had two hits each and Landyn Carlin (RBI, R), Christian Ling (RBI, 2 R), Kohen Flynn (2 R), Sawyer Carleton (2 R) and Lhandon Nauman (1 R) had a base hit each and Jack Nolan had two RBI and a run scored.

Carleton started on the mound and went two and a third innings, allowing three runs (1 earned) on three hits and four walks with four strikeouts. Flynn threw two innings of relief, giving up 10 runs (6 earned) on seven hits and three walks with three Ks and Maddox Hartman finished, pitching the final one and two-third innings and allowing two unearned runs on one hit and two walks with one strikeout.

Williamson (3-8) is scheduled to next host Towanda, on Thursday.
