HIGH SCHOOL GIRLS SOCCER: HORNETS FALL AT HUGHESVILLE (2021-09-13)

Northern Tier West Sports Report
HUGHESVILLE — The Wellsboro girls’ soccer team ran into a buzzsaw in the form of the Hughesville Spartans Monday, getting outshot 21-0 and falling 6-0 in non-league action.

Hornet Coach Jorge Taboada summed up his girls’ performance in just their third game of the season, and since losing several key players to graduation, stating, “The girls are learning to play with each other and that can sometimes take weeks, but we are still working.”

Hughesville had 10 corner kicks and four direct kicks, while Wellsboro had a lone direct kick. Hornet keeper Lilly Abadi had 14 saves in the lightning-shortened game.

Wellsboro, now 1-2 on the season, will look to rebound Wednesday when they host 0-1 Towanda.
