
WILLIAMSPORT — A large contingent of Tioga County football players joined hundreds of other athletes and converged on the Liberty Arena in Williamsport Wednesday to participate in the District IV Football Combine.
Wellsboro was the most well-represented, sending 33 athletes that included eight current juniors, nine boys from both their sophomore and freshman classes and seven 8th graders.
North Penn-Mansfield had 16 athletes there .. 10 juniors, three sophomores and three freshmen and Cowanesque Valley sent 14 .. two juniors, three sophomores, six freshmen and three 8th graders.
Notable results for each team included .. junior Andy Hermansen from North Penn-Mansfield finishing 2nd overall in the 40-yard dash (4.74) while Wellsboro freshman QB Griffin Morral was 12th (4.89) and junior Jeavon Eick from CV was 13th (4.90).
Hermansen was 3rd in the broad jump (9-6), with CV freshman Colten Begley finishing 34th (8-9) and freshman Keegan VanZile from Wellsboro was 49th (8-7).
Hermansen was Mansfield’s top finisher in the shuttle run, coming in 23rd (4.28) while CV sophomore Kegan Lane was 29th (4.3) and Morral was 53rd (4.41).
In the vertical jump, Hermansen was 12th overall (32”) while Wellsboro sophomore Justin Mosher was 48th (29) and Eick was 57th (28) and in the 10-yard dash, VanZile was 1st among all participants (1.05), Eick was 3rd (1.43) and Mansfield junior Patrick Youmans was 4th (1.53).
Wellsboro junior Hayden Stevens had the 4th most reps in the 185-pound bench press (12) while Eick was 13th (10) and Hermansen was 30th (7) and Mansfield junior Bryce Route was 25th in the 225-pound bench (10) with CV sophomore Justin Schaar finishing 46th (7) and Wellsboro sophomore Izaya Campbell coming in 66th (5).
There were 339 athletes that participated in some or all of the events this year, up from 303 in 2024 and 202 in ’23.
