
TIOGA COUNTY — While there were no league titles or deep post-season runs in 2025, our four softball teams combined for 38 wins and numerous players put on impressive, season-long performances .. including the All-Tioga County Softball Player of the Year, North Penn-Liberty junior Haley Litzelman.
One of only two returning starters for the Lady Mounties, Litzelman collected 26 base hits .. including eight doubles and a triple .. while batting .413 with a .464 on-base-percentage, 15 RBI, 16 runs scored and six stolen bases. Litzelman also proved to be a versatile asset defensively for 14-4 Liberty, playing numerous positions in the field and going 2-0 from the circle.
Williamson finished 11-9 on the season and fell to D4 runner-up Troy in a tough 2A bracket. Senior Kaegan Short led the way for the Lady Warriors at the plate, hitting .439 with 25 base hits (4 doubles), 12 RBI, 24 runs scored and a .542 OBP with nine walks and was hit by a pitch five times. Short is the All-Tioga County Softball Offensive Player of the Year.
The Defensive Player of the Year is Williamson sophomore catcher Lexi Smalley, who provided the Warriors with a reliable backstop, recording zero errors on the season while adding 20 base hits, 12 RBI and 24 runs scored while hitting .299 at the plate.
In her first season of varsity softball, junior Elyna Booth threw 113 innings for North Penn-Liberty, compiling an 11-5 record with a 1.24 ERA and 182 strikeouts and holding opposing hitters to a .161 batting average. The All-Tioga County Pitcher of the Year added 14 base hits, seven RBI, a .259 batting average and a .355 OBP from the plate and is also the Newcomer of the Year.
